That is as far as my Hawaiian goes. Hui is found in several languages with lots of different meanings. Do you happen to know what old E P was trying to say?

Yes, Hui is a surname, both Chinese and Hawaiian. In fact, a glance at the local telephone directory reveals over 30 people with that particular name.

As for what Grondine is saying, your guess is as good as mine. I'll only note that psychiatry is outside my area of expertise, so I do not feel I am authority on psychobabble.
