I kind of doubt they expected it to happen because they were talking about the view going all the way to ET Separation. I think they could use the same system that the people do with the cameras mounted on the racecars. They have a system to rotate a protective shield away from the lens and new one in front of it to clean the dirt that gets on their lens.
