How do you make surface temperature readings from this THEMIS data?

I'm sure one could construct an automated approach after downloading *all* of the data (or waiting for the CD); however, a kludgy method is to download the Brightness Temperature Image (BTR) .IMG file and open it with a program that can read the image label (e.g., NASA View 2.6.2). Then look for the bolometric temperature reading parameter. For example, the THEMIS infrared file I00822006BTR.IMG, centered at 5.18N 243.66E and acquired in bands 4, 9, and 10, has the following information in its label:

MINIMUM_BRIGHTNESS_TEMPERATURE = 208.005<CR><LF>
MAXIMUM_BRIGHTNESS_TEMPERATURE = 217.839<CR><LF>
