Re: Stardust's Annefrank photos
Regarding the Stardust photos of Annefrank (which are amazingly good -- far better than I expected): the camera has a resolution of 60 microradians per pixel -- that is, 180 meters/pixel at 3000 km flyby range.
By the way, Stardust's mission manager tells me that the camera's color filter wheel is still stuck in the "clear" position, and that they won't try to unstick it for fear it will get stuck BETWEEN filters. So, while its photos of Wild 2's nucleus will be very high-resolution (only 9 meters/pixel at 150 km minimum flyby range, not counting motion blurring), they'll all be black-and-white. At any rate, these new photos confirm that the camera fogging problem is a thing of the past.
