Stonerose

If you "love that stuff" you may want to take a trip to Stonerose. It's a fossil bed located on the edge of the town of Republic Wa.

This summer, my wife got a nice sample of the metasequoia pictured on the homepage. I split open a larger piece to find a winged pine seed. The seed is mirrored in the two halves and will make nice bookends.

I also found a 50 million year old overgrown mosquito in a hand-size piece of shale someone had discarded.

Raoul's meteorite is cool. It wouldn't surprise me if he were to wrangle a moon rock somehow;-)
