Junk Research

If you collect papers over a 20-year timeframe on a common theme, you will find support for all sorts of outlandish nonsense.

The Odyssey readings from the Tharsis area are too weak for extensive near-surface ice and the surface ages from micro-cratering are too old for anything to be ablating 1m in 1000 years.

Get a sense of proportion and if you're going to quote real researech results, make sure you understand the topic you're quoting and the limitations of each paper, plus the "reality check" constraints within which all this must fit.
