I do not know what ‘evidence’ has been dug up on the tunguska site to prove that the explosion was a meteorite or something else. However, at the time of the explosion my grandparents were living in Finland and my grandfather had gone out early one morning to “answer the call of nature”; as he was standing there staring at the sky he saw what he called a “vision”. The way he described the “vision” was that, as he was standing there, he observed a glowing object moving slowly through the sky, and there were people working very franticly on and all around the object. The object went towards the east and after a while there was a bright light “as if the sun was rising” in the east, but it was too early in the morning for that to occur. Anyway he went back to bed and told his wife and children about the “vision” the next day.
Was he dreaming, did he see something, was he hallucinating, I do not know.
With a little bit of imagination it could be pointed out that what he saw was a space ship that was in trouble and the occupants were franticly trying to save their ship and themselves from the imminent explosion of the propulsion core. They may have made the error of constructing their craft from pure titanium or some magnesium alloy that can ignite and burn in Earth's atmosphere.
