This reminds me of my oldest brother’s inner tube bombs. He was always filling inner tubes with 50 / 50 mixture of Oxygen and acetylene from his welding system. He was a farmer. He would set them off by pouring gasoline on it and setting it on fire. It made one hell of an explosion. One day to show off to some friends, who didn’t believe it would explode, he made one from a 6 ft. tractor inner tube, and exploded it in the parking lot of the cotton gin at the edge of town. (Town being a small farming community) The whole town thought it was a sonic boom. Those were the days when people actually had heard and knew what a sonic boom was. It did no damage as long as you stood at a reasonable distance. It was just loud as hell.
P. S. The reason they had heard sonic booms is because the town was about 90 miles north west of Edwards Airforce base, and they were always flying supersonic test flights out over us. I can remember seeing them way of to the south east when they would drop the X15 on it’s flights. Nothing but con trails, but I knew what they were doing.
