Will water pressure be a big problem for any Europa probe?
I’ve been researching what the pressure would be at the bottom of Europa’s global ocean (I have been wondering if we could build a submersible probe that can survive the pressure). We do not know how deep such a ocean is (or even if the ocean exist). If seen the number 60 miles come up. If the ocean is around 60 miles deep, at Europa’s 0.14 gravity, that would make a pressure equal to an 8 mile deep ocean on the Earth. I believe Earth’s deepest spot is in the Pacific at around 6 miles deep.
Based on this, I do feel that pressure shouldn’t be a large problem for any submersible probe.
