I didn't get it.
Of all the many flaws of the many people who have frequented this board, I don't recall "smarminess" being among any of them.
Myself, I'm a proud member of the Brotherhood of Dicks (no pun intended.)
I will happily take a soft, half-baked argument, light it on fire, throw it out a third-story window, then stand on the windowsill and piss on it until the fire is out. I'm pretty sure that's somewhere on the other end of the "ingratiating" curve.
