Take A 1 kg brick and accelerate it to .9999999 c...

In its own refererence frame its mass has not changed... any one moving with the brick would say it had a mass of 1kg.

however on outside observer would say its mass has increased greatly...

Rest mass/energy refers only to the objects mass as measured in the objects rest frame... in the objects rest frame it is the rest of the universe that is moving near c...

kinda a brain twister eh?
