Hi Marcia
Woolfson and colleagues have pointed out a number of simulations which produce "brown dwarfs" in Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamic [SPH] simulations of proto-stars interacting in the birth nebulae of stars. Most times the researchers take this to imply lots of brown dwarfs (L & T varieties) but neglect the finer detail of Jovian scale planets - which current SPH simulation resolutions can't discriminate from their bigger cousins.

[Or Woolfson's Capture Hypothesis suggests that instead of capturing planets (formed in disks deformed by stellar near-misses in high density stellar nurseries) red dwarfs will tend to lose them. Hence OGLE finding seemingly plenty of brown dwarfs/ free-floating planets.]
L and T type dwarfs may very well fit in that scenario.
