Progress, NASA style

This month we saw the sad anniversary of the Apollo 1 fire which killed Grissom, White and Chaffee. Following the disaster, NASA made a major overhaul of the Apollo rpogram. It was a huge success; two and a half years after the Apollo I fire, we landed men on the Moon.

Fast forward decades to the Challenger disaster and its aftermath. Two and a half years after STS 51-L, the fleet was still grounded. The shuttle fleet didn't fly again until two and a half years after that. That's NASA progress.

What do you expect for $14,000,000,000 a year?
