Questions On Asteroid Search Programs

Why do discoveries as listed at
http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iau/lists/Amors.html
http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iau/lists/Apollos.html
http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iau/lists/Atens.html
tend to run in streaks?

Is it weather at the different sites or possibly alternating searches in the most promising sectors?

JPL/NEAT has grabbed a big chunk of discoveries since the addition of the Palomar scope, but this alternating discovery pattern makes me wonder if the discovery rate is really a lot higher than it would have been without them.

Mark
