Last week, when it was posted here that the shuttle would be first visible over the north Bay Area and then next over us in Sacramento, I sent a couple of emails to the weather departments, who usually anounce upcoming meteor showers, of three local news channels.

I explained how spectacular a display it would be if skies were clear here and sent the NASA link that was posted here on habitablezone. Not one news station replied, and the two that I watch for the local weather didn't even mention it.

All day today, I kept thinking about the scene in Apollo 13 when Marylin Lovell chastises the media with, "Well, if landing on the moon isn't good enough for them, why should not landing on the moon be?"

Maybe I seem sour at a time of sorrow, but I was helping host a LAN game party today, and I was the only person interested in watching any news. 13 of us: 12 were indifferent, 1 was sick.

My deepest condolences to everyone involved, and to everyone else affected.

Chris
