Visibility of the disaster
I ran into a guy this morning who had an early tee time Saturday. At 0800 Houston time he was getting ready for a round of golf at a Houston Country Club and his group noticed a streaking, flaring meteor-like object streaking from the West to the East in the sky north of Houston.
They had no idea the Columbia was scheduled to pass by, but knew that whatever he was seeing it was not normal.
He commented that it was flaring, moving quickly and leaving a contrail.
That club is very close to my home.
