Speculation
Albeit a premature ejaculation of hypothethis but this fella wrote what I'd thought as I listened on NPR (kudos to NPR) to much of the NASA press conf Saturday afternoon. This idea does offer an explanation of what was seen over CA and why the orbiter was slewing left. Even if this highly speculative scenario were so, it leaves unanswered the question of what caused the left wheel well to open.
