I remember there was a great deal of criticism of the shuttle program. It was years late and way over budget. One of the biggest complaints was of the TPS because the tiles kept falling off. People wouldn’t have been surprised if it had failed. I was waiting at Edwards when it landed to a tremendous roar of the 500,000 people there with me.
