New asteroid discovered with a less than one AU orbit
<Vulcan?
Not really (I am referring to many years ago when there was talk of a planet closer to the Sun than Mercury. This planet was called Vulcan.)
According to the article, Asteroid 2003 CP20 was discovered on February 11 and its orbit is less than 1 AU. This makes it only one of three bodies that orbit within 1 AU from the Sun- the other 2 being Venus and Mercury.
And, for you SAM, this asteroid does not pose a threat to the Earth- in its current orbit.
I didn’t see the size of this asteroid. Could it be related to a probe we sent to Venus or Mercury- say a booster.
