Raoul is right
The "cracks" are actually floating threads from the insulation. The fact that there is a big, black cylinder poking out of the surface should have clued people in that even if they didn't know what the picture was, it sure as heck wasn't a picture of an aerodynamic surface. That, and the color is all wrong.
