If Mars had periodic flooding episodes due to asteroid impacts...

...then it may make sense for future astronauts/Mars terraformers to do a
"quick & dirty" terraforming exercise
on Mars in the next 1000 years by
redirecting a mountain-sized comet
nulei [rich in froxzen CO2/CO, etc]
to crash onto the surface of Mars.
A comet nuclei would be better than an asteroid, because it could dump billions of tons worth of [previously frozen] CO2
into the martian atmosphere as a result of flash vaporizing on surface impact.
Billions of tons worth of CO2 would
certainly increase the Martian atmospheric density dramatically and
generate a "greenhouse effect" too...
and do it astonishingly quickly.
You would think humanity would have
the technology and means to do it within the next 1000 years.
