Space/Science » in reply to Re: Circular formations on Mars, their origin(s)

Maars... seems appropriate! Thanks!

There are lots of impact craters on Mars, no doubt.

Nevertheless, there are many thousands of circular formations that are NOT impact craters. So far, though, nearly all circular formations on Mars are interpreted as impact craters by default, without any supporting evidence at all. This is the result of the Lunar Paradigm for Mars promulgated in 1965. The Lunar Paradigm is gravely wrong -- in fact, it is completely indefensible.

It is still the standard for many Mars interpretations just the same.

It is time to declare it "dead" and move on to a more "Martian" idea of what is and has been going on on Mars. But who was it who said, "Planetary science progresses one funeral at a time"?

Please keep posting your always thought provoking references!

Cheers, BFelix
