The last recorded data is being downloaded from the craft; it's nearly
at apojove for the last time.
And starting in Oct/1989 it has gathered
an astonishing amount of data, and has even uncovered numerous surprising/unexpected discoveries about Jupiter, it's moons, the asteroids, Comet SL9, Venus, interplanetary space,
and our own earth-moon system.
To put it another way, when the spacecraft Galileo was first gathering scientific data back in October/1989
the World Wide Web did not yet exist;
the Soviet Union and the Iron Curtain did; another Bush was president of the USA, and one or two of you now-teenage "Zoners" on this website were yet to attend elementary school.
Well done, Galileo!...Your glass is
full, not half-empty.
Jacob
Goodbye, Galileo! You did a good job!
