But when I look at this photo, I'm not sure what I'm looking at... it doesn't look to me like the wing is damaged (there should be notches in the leading edge). Instead it looks like there is material ADDED to the leading edge! That just doesn't make sense to me. Could be parallax error again, in which case there would be enormous carnage, jagged twisted metal and panels hanging *beneith* the wing, and only appearing out in front because of the viewing angle... but... I need to think about this photo some more:
