According to the NASA emails, the tires have so much air stuffed in them (to achieve 1000psi or so) that the doors will pop open even if the tires deflate in as much as a few seconds. I believe this is onaccountabecuz the volume of the wheel well would have to be enormous to be able to contain the air in the tires without blowing open the doors. It seems that a venting system could be devised, but the emails didn't indicate such venting exists.
