In which direction?

Which direction is Arcturus heading in,
relative to the "plane of the ecliptic"?
[more specifically, the "celestial equator" as viewed from the ground.]

I'll get back to you on the calculations, Raoul...Something interesting seems to be brewing here.

...I've got my trusty electronic [is there any other kind?] pocket-calculator with me now.

Formula I'll use is:
D = [@r/206265]/365days x 86400sec/days.
r = distance in kilometers to Arcturus
(r = 36 light-years x 9.42 x 10^12km/light-year).
@ = arcseconds.
D = apparent motion in kilometers/second.

You can beat me to this if you've got your own trusty pocket-calculator, or
the one in the cranium...aided by pencil & paper. Off to the races!
