2/3 of the stars are artifacts?
I wonder what fraction of these stars are more than just thermal noise but actual CCD hits from ionizing radiation.
If alot, then the subtract black exposure wouldn't work so well.
I guess if the guy is the editor of spaceweather.com, he might know a little bit about this and take it into account for his reply...
