Last Sundays Simpsons show was apparently meant to be a tribute to the dark skies week. In it Lisa decided she is going to be an astronomer. Homer bought her a telescope, with a bad check. When she looks at the sky she discovers she can’t see anything because of light pollution. She starts a petition to get Springfield’s lights turn off, and succeeds in getting the mayor to tun them off. Everybody is amazed at what they can see in the dark sky. But the criminal element, including Bart takes advantage of the darkness to steal things like automobile hood ornaments. When the people realize this they want the lights back on, and the wishy washy mayor caves in and turns them on, much to Lisa, and Barts dismay. They convince Homer, who can’t sleep because of the light, to let them into the atomic power plant and turn up the voltage and blow out all the lights in town. The whole town is about to lynch them when a spectacular meteor showers hits and they are all so amazed by the sight they completely forget what they were going to do. Another classic Simpsons show.
