Re: Hypothetical peroxides on Mars would not be a deterrent to life
In 1989 Mancinelli did a study on the effects of peroxides on colonies of terrestrial microorganisms. He found that the amount of alledged peroxides some researchers claim are in the soil of Mars (based on the Viking GEX results) that it would not kill them or prevent them from growing. Yet even though this study was done in 1989, it is seldom qouted by those who use the oxidant hypothesis to eliminate the possibility microbes could survive in the upper soil layers of Mars.
