<Jeff Bezos (of Amazon) founds a space company.
"Blue Origin"
This is really good news, although a bit frustrating personally, having spent the better part of the last ten years working with people trying to convince the tech billionaires to put money into space companies I was trying to get off the ground.
I suppose it's understandable that they'd rather it be their own company than someone else's.
Despite skepticism from the article and others, these guys all stand a good chance. I and the guys I work with know the tech issues down to nearly the molecular level, and the fact is that if you have enough cash to throw at this problem--a hell of a lot less than NASA would throw at it--you can get the job done.
Note to space engineers and others with similar skills: a lot of these folks are hiring.
Another new private rocket effort?
