The APOD site suggests that the average home owner would need to repair meteor damage every hundred million years.
Now...
There are well over 100 million homes in the world - say 1 Billion as a neat figure. Therefore there should be ~10 such reports per year.
BUT, reports of direct meteor damage seem to be at the 1-per-decade level.
SO, 100 times less damage is being done by individual meteors than by the long-term average.
Over the past century, 990 homes have escaped the expected damage.
(What we're seeing here is the allowance for a rare, but widely destructive impact which will one day do rather more damage than wiping out a printer and putting a hole in the ceiling of a single house).
if you beleive APOD's figures, you can calculate roughly how long it will be until that rare event, if you know how big it will be. So, for instance, a 10,000-home event will occur, on average, every 1000 years. Or a Million-home event every 100 Ky...
