I don't know why this should be perceived as controversial. The article is well balanced and pretty much says it all.
The tubes might or might not be proof of life. They might have or might not have formed under water.
The Allen Hill rock is 3.5 billion years old? Plenty of time to have killed off all life...leaving only fossils...
