(activate sarcasm mode) Maybe this explains why millions of people are pouring over the borders trying to get into Belgium, Canada, Australia, Sweden and Norway, while the rotten U.S. has no such problem. (end sarcasm mode) One piece of interesting information: in a table showing trends in this index from 1975 to 1999, (page 149 in the report), a cursory scan of the numbers shows that out of 162 nations, only Zambia has not improved its numbers since 1975. This seems a very positive sign for humanity.
