There's plenty of blame to go around.

From the Turks, then the Soviets to NATO's bumbling.
That whole region has been suffering from a family feud for many centuries. To both daddy Bush's and Clintons screwing up in handling the situation from the beginning.

And Lindy the weapons blame game at it's very least common denominator won't fly. The US export requirements are very stringent when it comes to any sort of waepons, large or small. Don't be so quick to blame US weapons makers for all the small arms in the world. In briefings in the 80's it was estimated that their had been almost ten million AK-47's made in all it's forms. The AK is cheap, extremely reliable and light enough for a young teen to carry and operate.

If you do some checking you would find that most of the weapons being used are of Soviet design and manufacture, And a large majority of the balance are of Chinese origin.

As far as stopping the flow of weapons into the area, no way, no how. Go to Terraserve, and take a long hard look at the terrain.

It would be just this side of impossible to effectivly patrol all of the borders, even with a much larger K-4 deployment.
