Re: Federal Service for franchise: Starship Troopers
I read ST the first time when I was about 16. I was greatly impressed with the franchise idea and the book in general. I have brought the idea into any conversation on voting rights for the last 40 years.
I reread the book recently (coincidental with the film) and while the story now seems a little hokey the service for franchise stands up fine.
Something needs to be done. The idea of giving the standard naturalization test would be a good small step and might effect the electorate more than many might realize.
