Doonesbury author issues "apology." Right.

<<sarcasm font> G. B. Trudeau issued a gracious and humble apology on his website, accompanied by a small sampling of letters critical of his error. The letters were obviously hand-picked from the many he received to cast his critics in the best possible light. </sarcasm font>

Notice how despite being caught out in spreading a false rumor, a rumor that no doubt would have showed up as a "known fact" in all the dozens of usual leftist outlets within days had it not been blown, Trudeau still gets that last dig in. Of COURSE Bush is an idiot. EVERYONE knows that.

Anyone who reads the strip will not be surprised.

The air of superiority that liberals like Trudeau literally ooze, is one of the most infuriating things about them. They are so certain that they know better than the rest of us, in the face of the utter failure of almost every aspect of their philosophy, and so certain that the rest of us are unsuited for civilized company, and need to be carefully shepherded through life. The real joke is that "arrogance" is the first thing they scream when conservatives state a particular philosophical position. "Don't be judgmental," they say, while condemning as subhuman anyone whose position doesn't run straight down the middle of the liberal path.

What is fascinating about Trudeau is the way he has, consciously or not, distilled this irritating personality trait into the form of cartoons. The protagonists that he has selected to preach his liberal views are drawn with smirking, half-lidded expressions that literally radiate the attitude: "aren't you little people lucky that I let you breath my air."

What also frosts me about smug bastards like this is that they're the first to ream the hell out of someone like Rush Limbaugh when he messes up on a minor fact.

Sorry for the rant. Not enough coffee this morning.
