There are a number of approaches being worked on to create batteries that can charge very rapidly.
The bitch here is that your charger would need to deliver a spectacular voltage to your car, far beyond anything available to your average residence. Also, not very safe to work around.
Fact is, the limit for most homes is 240 V, and that's the bottleneck for charging speeds.
