Manic depression does not go hand in hand with any particular set of political beliefs. Nor does any other form of mental illness.

It's not funny. Go educate yourself.

On the one hand, it's very easy to characterize political opponents as "crazy", because then you don't need to take their world view seriously and deal with the problems they see and their proposed solutions. Demonization is so much more simple.

On the other hand, manic depression (aka bipolar disease) is a real, organic illness treatable with medication and therapy, not subject to cure by the application of "right thought". I work with a woman who suffers with this illness, and she's at least as conservative as anyone who frequents this board. Perhaps, if I didn't know better, I'd say that conservatism and manic depression go hand in hand. I at least have a clinical example to call on, not some speculation drawn from a tawdry episode out of the lives of the rich and famous.
