Probably guarantees more loss of life...
...on old-style hijackings, though. Even if the hijacking is "benign", the passengers and crew will no longer be able to sit tight and ride it out.
I hope we do better on airport security. Hard to keep knives out, though. You can make one out of darn near anything.
