Familiar names

I grew up about 20 miles from the town of Decatur, Alabama. That town was named in honor of Steven Decatur.

Reuben James is also a familiar name. A destroyer, the USS Reuben James (DD-245), was sank by a German U-boat on Oct 31, 1941 while escorting British ships. This was well before Pearl Harbor and was one of the first US ships lost in the war. It was replaced by the Destroyer Escort, USS Reuben James (DE-153) in 1943. Today, the USS Reuben James is an Oliver Hazard Perry class frigate (FFG-57).
