Sitting on our thumbs in the middle of North America would not have made any difference to a man who demands his people must kill Americans, military or civilian, at every opportunity. To assume we have any say about what goes on in bin Ladin's tiny little mind is ridiculous. We backed out of the Palestine/Israeli talks, and losing the World Trade Center and thousands of lives barely a week later was our reward.

As for attitude, at the moment Israel cannot resist. This was a big hit on the USA. This may very well result in a big hit from the USA against Palestine. I think they're just looking forward to it.
