<Why would a group of people basically declare war on America?
It was unintentional. The declaration, not the attack. All this was supposed to be was a strike at the heart of America. It was a global fear-play. I doubt if even the attackers thought the towers would actually collapse, and that they were as shocked with the result as we were. I believe that if the towers were still standing and reparable, we might give bin Ladin et al a run for their money, maybe play a little Muammar al Qadhafi-tag with him and his family. Bin Ladin would say he’s a changed man, and the American public would eventually buy it -- like they do everything else.
But it all backfired, really fast. The declaration came from our president, calling the attack a provocation for war, which it most certainly was, and will now remain. What really backfired, though, was the attempt at striking fear in the hearts of Americans. Well, I believe there are more than a few of bin Ladin’s faithful quaking in their boots right about now.
It's a cult which happens to have the belief that the US is a evil force.
Definitely, but it’s only because of our power that we are viewed by bin Ladin as the ultimate evil. He is insane with the minimal power he now holds. And it occurs to me that there may be another target on US soil that might tickle his mad little bone. Hitting the wealthiest man in the world.
Terrorism usually is "about" changing political leaders' minds.
No it isn’t. It’s a bunch of pissed little boys who have an axe to grind against authority, but rather than stating their issues, they would rather kill the authority’s family and friends, wanting to do nothing but frighten people into obedience. It’s fucking stupid, and they just need to be shot.
This isn't about changing our mind, it's more about recuiting members for the cult and simply attacking the "enemy".
Yes. That’s terrorism, my friend.
I believe this cult leader has made a BIG mistake [which isn't too surprising] and this cult will be destroyed- as long as we continue what we are doing.
All dittos here!
Well, I’ve been have a number of late nights, sitting here and sifting through the net and my soul, and I think I’ll sign off now. Take care, everybody. Type to you tomorrow.
Cheers,
Dan
