My local newspaper carried a big photo of a couple of cops hauling a suspect off a train in Providence.
The man, in cuffs, was dressed in loose clothing, had a long black beard and a turban (I couldn't find a link for the photo.) He was under arrest for carrying a knife.
Here we begin to see the problem. Most Muslims in the U.S. do not wear turbans. However, Sikhs, members of another religion, do.
Sikhs also carry a ceremonial knife called a Kirpan as part of their religion.
In all likelihood, this man was a Sikh, carrying a Kirpan, and had nothing at all to do with terrorism other than matching an ignorant stereotype.
"Let's kill him," someone yelled.
What if someone had?
