I’m not a structural engineer, or architect, so the idea I have is probably loony, and completely unfeasible, but I will throw it out just for the heck of it.
Build a large open frame structure around the building strong enough to shred an airplane prior to it impacting the main structure of the building. Perhaps it would lessen the amount of damage to the main building and keep the flaming fuel away from the inside of the building. Aside from the feasibility, it would probably look very ugly.
