How 'bout we don't put them on airplanes.
OK we can put backups on airplanes, but why not relay all the vitals over sattelites into a huge databank. Each airline could control and maintain the storage facility under the watchful eye of the FAA. Having a constant stream of info being broadcast probably isn't feasible, but bursts every 15 seconds might be. The continuous stream will probably need to come off the airplane's boxes.
Any reasons why this won't work?
