Just in CNN: a pilot just said the FAA should put a video system inside every airplane, so the crew knows what's going on in the flight deck, the pilot knows what's going on in the passenger compartment, the air trafic controler knows what's going on in the airplane, etc...
Another thing: I've got a US Passport, but know not all Americans do have it.
This helps me travel to the US. My Belgian ID card must be carried all the time. Imagine I would die somewhere: if I had no papers, how would my relatives know what happened to me? With some identification, it would enable others to recognize me, it would enable me to find my way somewhere (GPS), or to alert somebody if I were in danger.
