Ya know, I seem to recall a certain Bill Hickock who felt the same way. Only trouble is, it didn’t last. He came to an untimely end. Ol’ Aces-n-Eights, the dead-man’s hand, was a message about scarin’ the bejesus outa folks, then turnin’ yer back on ‘em. Come Saturday night, and some new kid in town who thinks he’s pretty quick with a peace-maker blows a hole in the nation’s back -- like they did last week.

Well, they were a little off center last time, but they still got us pretty good. Piss off the bad guys, and if we can, bring ‘em in -- for a life term, or a friendly hangin’, all at government expense. Not a problem, and a picnic affair that’ll last ‘til the beer runs out. And the message to the world at large becomes crystal. America. Land of the judiciously free, and home of the righteously brave.

Is there a less drastic solution for this?

We must be precise in both our accusations, and in our retribution -- like a surgeon removing a tumor. We have the technology to do this right, and clean. The satties are online, and good intelligence is being compiled for the hit.
