Sikh, not Hindu
Not the same religion. Sikhism is a much smaller and younger religion, mainly practice in India.
The most famous incident of Hindu vs. Sikh religious violence, you may recall, occurred following the assassinatin of Indira Ghandi by some of her Sikh bodyguards. Several thousands Sikhs were murdered, many burned alive, in India by enraged Hindu mobs.
I distinctly recall stories of (Hindu) Indian police officers courageously risking their own lives to protect terrified Sikhs from some of these enraged mobs.
