Pakistan Asks Taliban to Act More
September 22, 2001
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- PNS
Pakistan on Friday said the Taliban act more than just issuing Ulema's edict which suggests Osama bin Laden to leave the country.
The Foreign Office spokesman in his briefing here said that Pakistan thinks the move of the Afghan Shura was effective but it was not enough as it did not meet US demands.
"Pakistan has issued notice on Afghan Shura's verdict and we expect that Shura will take immediate steps in the best interest of the Afghanistan and its people," spokesman said.
Pakistan is a neighbour and friendly country of Afghanistan and it wants prosperity and peace for Afghan people, he added.
Responding to a question the spokesman said that US president Gorge W Bush has already made it clear that the US war is not against any country, nation or Islam but terrorism and Pakistan is bound to help the international community in its war against terrorism.
