A Taliban defence official said on Tuesday the militant movement would retaliate against anyone who attacked Afghanistan or actively supported such a move.
"Anyone who attacks or who helps in the attack is our enemy and we will carry out an attack against them," Mullah Noor Ali, a Defence Ministry official, told Qatar-based al-Jazeera television.
Afghanistan's hardline Taliban, gearing up for threatened U.S. attacks, has said it will not hand over Osama bin Laden unless Washington, which blames the Saudi-born dissident for the September 11 attacks on U.S. landmarks, provides evidence.
Washington wants Afghan-based bin Laden "dead or alive" for what it sees as his guiding hand in the suicide plane attacks that killed thousands. Bin Laden has denied any part in the attacks.
The United States has been seeking support from its close allies and nations surrounding Afghanistan.
